After our last trip to the vet, I knew I finally had to find an alternative to nail clippers. My 100-pound St. Bernard/Lab mix has very thick black nails, so they are difficult to trim. Our vet started to cut, and almost immediately my dog was yelping in pain from the pinching pressure of the clippers, and several cut quicks. A very unpleasant experience for all of us.
I did some searching on Amazon and came across the Dremel 761-03 Pet Grooming Tool. After reading customer reviews, I decided to buy the 7700-02 instead. It's perfect!!
At first my dog was very nervous, so I gave her lots of praise and small treats, until she was used to the noise. Then I moved on to sanding one nail at a time, followed by a small treat. Now when she sees the Dremel, she gets exited and happily lays down for her manicure! The sanding creates a lot of nail dust, and tiny chips can shoot through the air, so you'll want to do this outside and wear protective eye wear.
This tool is very lightweight and easy to maneuver. I wish I would have done this years ago! If your dog has large nails, this is the tool for you!

First, this was my mistake not to check/count the 50 accesories when I got the order.
I needed a tool to groom my small dogs' nails and decided to purchased this more powerful tool so that I could it for other uses 19 monhts ago.
Now I want to use this to cut a metal and while reading the manual I found that the package should have 50 accesories, which includes 15 of cutting heads (#409) and 2 of #420, but apparently there are only 2 of #409 and 1 of #420 in the box.
I know I did not loose them because I only used them a few times and kept them well in my office.
I am so disappointed that the package misseed many of them.
I like the tool very much but determine to post and give it 3 stars for missing many (14) items.
So it would be worth to check your inventory that you have the complete 50 accessories.

I have 4 english mastiffs and this grinder works great. My only complaint is that I wish the battery lasted longer. Grinding is MUCH preferable to using a clipper and it's fairly easy to teach the dog to allow its use. I always dreaded cutting their nails, but no more. Just have lots of little treats handy so they associate the experience in a positive manner.

Great and handy machine, but like others have said, Flawed!
Battery connection doesn't hold tightly, causing the switch to sometimes malfunction, because of improper electrical contacts!
One customer heated up the side contacts with a butane lighter & bent them in!
He said it works up to it's full potential, after that!
But as I said, THIS IS A GREAT TOOL!
I wouldn't wanna risk using a LIGHTER" on it!
So you see those "FLANGE SNAPS" that Holds the Battery on?
There is a SPACE or POCKET, beneath or BEHIND Them!
Get some Scissors and CELLOPHANE PACKING MATERIAL, FOAM or PAPER!
AND CUT PIECES JUST BIG ENOUGH TO FIT THE SPACES BEHIND THE (2) "SNAPS".
Works Great!
No SWITCH problems!
It is Now A GREAT TOOL!
So for the minor Flaw!
EASY FIX!
AND THE PRICE" I have to give it (5) STARS!

I have had the Dremel cordless "MiniMite"for a few years and the 7.2V before that. I see that the new one is still a 7.2V. It's OK for some uses but not powerful enough to do much metal cutting and 'heavy' sanding. But those jobs should be left to the corded ones. It amazes me that they have not improved the switch on these. This unit's switch may even be a bit worse that the previous ones. Sometimes I would find these units drained so I just got used to disconnecting the batteries. This unit has more power, speed and torque than the MiniMite. Sometimes the High speed won't work at all. It seems that the battery does not latch tighly enough where some of the contacts don't connect. You have to press and wiggle things around to get it to work right and it seems to work itself loose at times. I am disappointed with this unit really. I do like the small tool bag over the hard case. It actually holds both of the Dremels, their chargers and a small plastic 'box' holding a few accessories.
